The Old Church

As most of you know, in Feb 2011 we lost our son, Joseph Phoenix, shortly after childbirth. As we grieved we were buoyed by friends and family who introduced us to two priceless resources: Grief Watch (www.griefwatch.com ), a resource for dealing with loss, and The Dougy Center (www.dougy.org ) , supporting grieving children and families. These organizations not only give support to grieving families and children right here in Portland, OR but from all over the country. Both groups are filled with information, knowledge and experience on how to grieve, how to heal, how to live again after the kinds of losses and tragedies people fear most. 

We have organized a benefit concert in which all proceeds from the show will go to benefit these two fantastic organizations.

The show will be headlined by Lincoln Crockett & Enemies, a fusion of my acoustic and electric roots all in one vibrant band. Award winning singer/songwriter Chris Kokesh and I will open the night with our popular and dynamic duo. 

This event is very close to our hearts musically and as a benefit show, but it is also a memorial for the one year anniversary of the birth of Joseph. We have 300 tickets to sell and we want to sell them all. We hope to see you there and if you wouldn’t mind passing this email and word on to others in your community it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, for those of you who cannot make it or are located too far away but would like to be involved in the benefit, we are taking donations by mail to add to the total donation made from the event. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation big or small please make a check out to either The Dougy Center or Grief Watch and mail it to us at:

We will add the checks into the total donation amount made from the event. You can use your cashed check as a receipt for your taxes, but if you would like a receipt from the organization, please indicate that when you mail your check and include a return address.
